Welcome to Pokefalls. Lazuli is a harmonious Region of people and new species of pokemon. However, not all is well in the paradise. The Gleefuls started Team Blue Legacy to try and turn the place into the next reverse falls. Will you stand and fight them, or just carve your own journey? Enjoy your stay in Lazuli.
But Remember, not all is what it seems. Those who are good can be evil, and those evil can be good, remember at the end of the day: Trust No one. We are a nonlinear site which scales levels depending on where you are in your journey.
Not that it bothered Alic, of course. It was simply an observation. He had traveled a lot before leaving home, having been to every region several times over. In fact, the man was probably more well traveled than many trainers.
The people here were more relaxed. Less concerned with fashion, less uptight. But that didn't keep him from dressing up the day he was to make his way to the Laboratory. High quality, high dollar black skinny jeans. Leather, black boots that reached to mid-calf. A skin tight, red silk shirt that made his eyes pop, reaching to the middle of his upper-arm. His hair was neatly cleaned into his normal 'just-shagged' look, and what stubble he was capable of growing had been shaved. A gold watch sat on his left-most wrist, elegant and slim.
All in all, he thought he looked good. Even the most fashion-focused Kalosian would find little fault.
And now, all that was to do, was to get his starter. His first ever partner. So he strode into the laboratory - head high, shoulders back, spine ramrod straight. Looking around, he announced his presence, "Pardon me, I was told to come here to choose my starter?"
Gideon paged through his latest field notes, shaking his head. The swarms seemed to have changed again with the new season, but he still couldn't quite figure out where the other pokemon had gone or where the new ones were coming from, or what brought about this change. Obviously the temperature likely was the most major cause, certainly that easily explained the ones in the wave ocean, but not the ones in the caves and tunnels. Furfrous? And something else, a strange pokemon that must be from another region... what were they doing there?
Pacing, Gideon was startled as someone entered the building, jerkily setting his notebook down, guiltily snapping to attention as a man entered. Immediately he noted their stance and dress, professional, crisp, clean. A grimace, sheepish and miserable in his own simple hoodie and jeans with only a baseball cap and running shoes, his pale hair wild under his cap. He must make such a horrible impression of the lab and it's staff.... Nervously swallowing, he moved towards the man, his own head ducked lower instinctively, leaned slightly forward as though intimidated or embarrassed before them. He bit his tongue, before clearing his throat, a flashed smile across pale freckled features. "Ahh, yes, this is the correct place, I can, ahh, help you, I'm an assistant of the professor here" He was stumbling over his words and babbling, and snapping his jaw shut, he made himself turn swiftly, grabbing a clipboard and pen. "Here, if you can fill this out for the record..."
Gideon's fingers fiddled with it a moment as he offered both over, and turning swiftly, he fetched the starter pokemon, quietly releasing the pokemon and letting them adjust to the lab again as they appeared and blinked in the light. "Here, umm, when you finish these are the starters available for you, feel free to find the one thats best and we can be set up..." Fingers idly tapping at the empty pokeballs before setting them back on the desk, waiting for Alic to finish the paperwork, he seemed to only belatedly realize his lack of introduction with a chagrined frown. "Ahh, my name is Gideon by the way, if you have any questions... umm..." He trailed off, the obvious there, nervous in the face of the much nicer and richer man. Rich usually meant power, and even not looking at the fact that he was far underdressed compared to them, he couldn't being reminded a bit too much of Team Blue Legacy even if there was a chance they had nothing to do with it...

Alic looked over at Gideon, taking in the man's appearance. Scruffy, really, dressed in clothes meant for comfort. Something that really made sense for someone working in the administrative side of a lab - although one would think that someone who faced the public would be a little more put together.
The man, it seemed, was either sheepish or shy or uncomfortable, head ducking before he smiled. He was offered a clipboard and pen, saying "Merçi," as he began to fill it out. His eyes caught the Pokemon as they were let out, all oddly colored - the Growlithe, melanistic, as well as the Zorua. The Marill, shiny. He smiled at them politely, before turning his attentions back to the clipboard, not intending on rushing. It would allow him to observe the Pokemon's temperaments as he did so.
As he filled out the paperwork - it wasn't much, but long enough for him to get a feel for the Pokemon by watching them - he observed the three from the corner of his eye. The Marill was quick to begin chasing the ball of its tail, running in circles. The Zorua huffed, sitting and adjusting her weight and glaring him down. The Growlithe, meanwhile, sat politely, head high and paws still.
He had just finished the paperwork when Gideon spoke up again, introducing himself. "I'm Alic, it's a pleasure to meet you." he offered him a friendly smile, before passing over the clipboard and pen. "And I believe I have made my decision. If they are alright with it, I would like to choose the Growlithe. Their personality seems to fit best with mine."
The Growlithe's head perked up, and its tail began to wag as it trotted up to him. The Marill's ears drooped, but it perked up again, and the Zorua 'harummphed', turning its back to him.

Truth be told, Gideon rather wished Mabel or the professor was here instead, it wasn't usually his main job to deal with new trainers, but in a way it was better. Not that they weren't nice enough to him but... he knew first hand just how shady Blue Legacy could get, and if this trainer hadn't mentioned anything or asked for one of the other two... well that meant maybe they weren't a part of it. He would rather be able to lend his assistance and know at the same time that the lab wasn't being used to bring new Legacy members into the fold, even if it did mean that he had to do all the face to face interactions. The professor had been out quite a while... something that was in a way worrying of it's own implications.
Still, it was with relief that Gideon noted Alic's lack of comment or attention to his own less then professional appearance and attire. The thanks surprised him, and Gideon blinked before he moved to gather the starters and release them. Another language? Was that french? He didn't know it but he was sure he had at least heard that word before and a couple others... somewhere anyways. There was something nice to the fact that Alic seemed so restrained, the man noting the pokemon but finishing the paperwork in a steady manner before turning his attention to the pokemon itself, Gideon noticing quietly their attention to the pokemon even before actively focusing on them. It was more like how he liked to do things, observing first then acting, and it was a pleasant surprise to see a new trainer fresh off the block so patient when most usually rushed to get everything done.
Flashing a half-smile back as Alic introduced himself in turn and returned his paperwork, Gideon glanced through it as he moved to set it on the desk and fill the clipboard with a fresh sheet. "A pleasure to meet um... you as well Alic." He murmured, awkwardly. He was surprised to note that in that time Alic had already made his decision, barely managing to take back his items and reach the desk as Alic continued their sentence. Blinking, he looked to the starters and nodded, taking up the growlithe's pokeball as he replaced the clipboard on the wall before grabbing a starter kit and moving to hand both the ball and the kit to Alic. "He's a pretty good tempered and obedient one... here, his ball and your kit. He's been needing a trainer for a while, he'll be more then happy.... you aren't wrong about your personalities fitting... at least from what I know" An awkward smile, he was trailing off too much, uncertain. Shaking his head slightly, after Alic accepted the items he would begin to move away, seeming to remember something. "H-hang on... umm, you filed as a breeder right? Here, the lab is partnered with several of the nearby farms... its standard practice for us to offer some of the extra eggs we get to new breeders..."
Moving to a back room, Gideon would appear shortly with four eggs cradled gently in his arms, a sleepy looking leafeon padding silently at his side and blinking upon seeing Alic. Gideon offered the eggs to the breeder carefully. "H-here... it seems like a lot but most should fit in your pack for easy travel... there haven't been many breeders by to take up the excess lately. I wish you good luck and... if you need anything or have any questions I can answer them probably..."

The man accepted the Poke Ball and the starter kit from Gideon with another "Merci," The Poke Ball was shrunken, attached to a clip on the inside of his jacket, while the starter kit was tucked away into his backpack - which he intended to replace.
He knelt down to offer his hand to the Growlithe, smiling at Gideon's observation on the fire-dog's personality. "I can tell," he chuckled, the sound rolling in his chest. The dog trotted up to him, allowing Alic to scritch his head, "I did," he confirmed to Gideon's question about being a breeder, watching as Growlithe's tongue lolled out of his mouth.
When Gideon returned, Alic offered the Leafeon a smile, the Growlithe a final scritch, standing up straight to accept the eggs. "Merci beaucoup," as carefully as though he were handling a human baby, he shifted the eggs from Gideon's arms into his pack, making sure they were safely in place before turning back to the lab assistant. "I don't have any questions I can think of at the moment, so I think I will head out. All of your help is very much appreciated."
With the Growlithe at his heels, Alic called a farewell, and the pair was gone.
